Highland Trails, LLC broke ground this spring on a new system of downhill mountain biking trails at Loon Mountain in Lincoln, NH.

You know Highland for our commitment to the two main facets of our operation: training and trails. But did you know that we also take our expertise off-mountain, building up other downhill scenes?

Experts from the Highland Trail Crew have joined forces with Loon Mountain’s team of terrain park builders and snowmakers to design and construct a fifteen-mile network of downhill mountain bike trails. The first phase of this project—opening to the public this fall—will consist of beginner and intermediate trails on both freeride and technical terrain.

“We’re starting with beginner and intermediate trails, but we will grow and offer more,” said Jay Scambio, president and general manager of Loon Mountain Resort. “We want to do this right and make Loon a major mountain biking destination for riders of all ages and abilities.”

Highland Trails, LLC was founded out of Highland Mountain Bike Park to further our mission of being the premier experts in trail design, construction, maintenance, and operation for the mountain biking industry. We’re the best at what we do because bikes are all that we do. Highland’s trail builders have years of experience developing and building trails specifically designed to enable and support rider progression. We’re thrilled to be taking those skills to Loon Mountain!

With guidance from Highland Trails, Loon will continue to develop a progressive system of lift-accessed trails for beginner to advanced riders, supported by lesson programs, bike rentals, and a dedicated learn-to-ride area. By the time all phases of construction are complete, Loon will be home to the largest combined network of downhill and cross country trails in the White Mountains—not too shabby.
