MTBVT’s Green Mountain Showdown To Introduce the Inaugural eMBie Awards

October 5, 2012 –Mountain Bike Vermont (MTBVT.com) has announced its second annual Green Mountain Showdown event will be held Friday, October 19th, 2012, at the Opera House in Hyde Park and will include the inaugural eMBies, the People’s Choice Awards for all things mountain biking in the state.

The eMBie Awards will be based on votes submitted by Vermont mountain bikers on MTBVT.com and VMBA.org sites and will include such categories as “best bike mechanic,” “strongest new rider,” “best trail builder” and “best photographer.” (People have the opportunity to vote until October 18.) And, according to event organizer Ryan Thibault, the eMBie winners will “definitely be receiving the coolest looking trophies in the state.”

This year’s Green Mountain Showdown is sponsored by the Vermont Mountain Bike Association, MTBVT.com, and The Moceanproject and, aside from the eMBies, the event will also include a multimedia expo dedicated to all facets of mountain biking, from singletrack to downhill to jumping. Presentations by Northeastern writers, photographers and videographers, such as Brian Mohr, Berne Broudy, Aaron Rohde and Henry Miles to name a few, will showcase slideshows and videos about everything from the 2012 downhill race season to mini-documentaries about bike trips abroad.

“Our goal is to elevate Vermont’s status as the heart of mountain biking in the Eastern United States,” says Thibault. “The Green Mountain Showdown is a chance to celebrate our State’s huge recreational drive and it gives our local talent the opportunity to celebrate their skill. It’s going to make for a fantastic show!”

The evening gala will begin at 7:30pm at the Hyde Park Opera House and riders and enthusiasts of all ages are encouraged to gather for an evening of great pictures, videos, writings and eMBie award presentations. Tickets are $15 and partial proceeds will go to youth oriented programs administrated by VMBA. There are only 240 available seats in the Opera House so MTBVT encourages people to book early.
