Kids Camp Overview

HIGHLAND MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK KIDS CAMP

Our Saturday Kids Camp offers skill-building and camaraderie for riders as young as six and as old as fourteen. Covering topics such as bike setup, body positioning, cornering, and jumps and drops, Kids Camp has something for everyone. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders will dial in their skills while making new friends and forming lifelong memories.

Prerequisites: Beginner riders must be comfortable riding a two-wheel bike without training wheels and be able to use hand brakes with confidence. Full-face helmet, gloves, knee, and elbow pads are required. Bikes must have front and rear hand brakes (disc brakes are strongly recommended). Full suspension bikes are recommended but hardtails are acceptable. Rental bikes and equipment are available upon reservation.

Half-Day Kids Camp (Ages 6-9): $109*

Full-Day Kids Camp (Ages 10-14): $179*

*Programs include full-day park and lift access. Bikes and safety gear available for an additional fee.

*** Please have campers bring water for breaks, small snacks that they can eat on the lift, and food/ money for lunch. Parents are encouraged to spend lunch time with campers. Coaches will not be available from 12:30-1:00pm & Campers will not be supervised by Highland staff during lunch break. ***

Half Day Session

Ages 6 to 9 (10:00am to 1:00pm)

The Half Day Kids’ Camp program is a fun-filled, three-hour camp providing instruction on core skills essential to enjoying a lifetime of progressive riding. The camp utilizes our skills areas, pump track, and our beginner-friendly lift-accessed terrain to develop proper braking, cornering, balancing, descending, and lifting up and over techniques.

9:45 – Campers and Coaches gather and form groups in the Kids Camp meeting area adjacent the lodge

10:00 – Groups leave to start riding

1:00pm – Camp Sign-Out at Kids Camp meeting area

Full Day Session

Ages 10 to 14 (10:00am to 4:00pm)

The Full Day Kids’ Camp program is a six-hour session focusing on core skills in our skills area, berms, pump track, and on our lift-accessed trails. Practical application of proper braking, cornering, balancing, descending, and wheel lift techniques take place on dedicated learning terrain, where attention to safety and rider etiquette is paramount.

Already purchased your multi-pack? You can reserve your Kids Camp sessions at any time via the online availability calendar, above. We recommend reserving in advance whenever possible, as space in each session is limited.

Rules & Restrictions: Kids Camp Multi-Packs are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be used for other riders. All multi-pack visits must be used within the season of purchase.

CHECK IN AND PICK UP

Camper check-in is open 9:00AM-9:30AM Saturday morning.

Parents will check campers into Kids Camp at the Highland Camps table in front of the Main Lodge. Campers will receive a day pass, name tag, and instructions on where to meet and collect any reserved rental equipment. Our staff will also verify a valid 2021 waiver is on file.

As the start of camp nears, campers and staff will gather in the Kids Camp meeting area adjacent to the lodge. Highland Training Center coaches will help outfit campers with gear and assign groups.

Half-Day camper pickup is from 1PM to 1:30PM

Full-Day camper pickup is from 4PM to 4:30PM

Parents must pick up campers at the conclusion of camp in the Kids Camp meeting area. Training Center staff will ask a parent or guardian to sign each camper out.

DO I NEED A WAIVER FOR MY CHILD?

Yes. We require every participant to fill out one new waiver each calendar year. Waivers for riders under the age of 18 must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. You can access and complete our current Under 18 Waiver here

WHAT TYPE OF HELMET SHOULD WE BRING?

A full-face helmet is recommended but half-shell helmets are okay to use for camp.

You may add a rental helmet and other protective equipment to your Kids Camp package for an additional charge.

WHAT SHOULD I PACK FOR KIDS CAMP?

Consider packing the following:

CAN I WATCH MY CHILD DURING KIDS CAMP?

You are more than welcome to watch your child during their Kids Camp. We do ask that you do not distract them during their camp.

WHAT KIND OF BIKE SHOULD I BRING?

Your bike should not have the following: Training wheels or coaster brakes

Your bike should have the following: Front and rear hand brakes and full or front suspension. Your child must be comfortable riding a two-wheel bike and be able to use hand brakes with confidence.
